The summer of 2019 saw lower yields than previous vintages, though great quality was ensured at the point of harvest due to favourable weather conditions through the autumn. The result is a wine showing all the intensity of flavour and varietal characteristics expected of Pinot Noir from this particular region, and a very exciting new arrival on the world stage.

Taking its name from the rugged, rock-strewn landscape of Central Otago, sharing a climate similar to Burgundy, Rockburn is producing Pinot Noir of stunning quality. After cool maceration and relatively short fermentation, the wine was barrel-aged for 10 months in French oak, of which 35% was new, 18% first, and 47% second use.

A deeply fruited palate of vibrant red and black cherries layered with notes of rich mocha, follow an expressive nose. Supple, silky tannins lead to a long finish that showcases classic Rockburn elegance, integrity and balance.
