5th generation winemakers, Jacques Marchand and his son Etienne, train 40 year old Pinot Noir vines on the marl and limestone slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy's esteemed and globally-admired Cote de Nuits. Vinification methods are traditional and include hand-harvesting, cold maceration and a period of three years of barrel-ageing - all without the use of chemicals.
This full-bodied wine is crimson red by sight and exhibits aromas of bright, concentrated blackberries with hints of espresso. A smooth, consistent palate is characterised by dark berries and chocolate and the finish is powerful, yet perfectly balanced with sweet juicy tannins. Ready now, this wine has wonderful potential to develop further over the next 20 years!
