Now firmly rooted in California's Napa Valley 'wine country', the original Truchard winery was founded in Texas by French brothers Jean-Marie and Anthony Truchard, in the late 1800s. Greatly affected by 1920s prohibition, the winemaking gene skipped a generation, resurfacing in the '70s with Jean-Marie’s grandson, Tony. Stationed in California during the Korean War, Tony decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by buying 20ha of vines in the renowned cool-climate region of Carneros - one now widely acknowledged for its favourable conditions for the growing and production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Over the last four decades, the estate has been expanded to some 280ha and in 1989, the family released the first wine under their own label. Today, alongside his parents, Anthony Truchard works incessantly and passionately to maintain the integrity of his family’s wines and loves sharing them with the world.

Straw/golden-yellow in the glass, this wine exhibits intense aromas of pineapple, green apple and honeysuckle, supported by nutmeg spice, ripe fig and a light toasty oak. A citrus-based palate of lemon and lime, with hints of fresh pears, offers a bright and well-balanced mouthfeel and the adroitly-judged oak adds weight and complexity to a prolonged, crisp, fresh finish in a wine that perfectly demonstrates 'benchmark' Californian Chardonnay.
