Atop the granite and sand soils of the Salnes Valley, only 8.25km from the Atlantic Ocean, sit Tomada de Castro's 65 year old vines. The vineyard is trained in an Arbor (trellis) system, improving airflow and sheltering the grapes from the sun and high temperatures. Farming is practiced in an organic/biodynamic way with minimal human intervention.
Characteristically pale lemon with hints of green, the nose is an intense hit of white fruits, fresh almonds and iodised notes. Citrus fruits dominate the palate, harnessed by the presence of ripe peaches and honeyed overtones. The finish is beautifully refreshing and fruity with sufficient weight to accompany pre-dinner nibbles and/or richer mains.
